This letter is to invite you to consider the Frank Denius Normandy Scholar Program on World War II (NSP) as a part of your educational experience at The University of Texas at Austin. The Normandy Scholar Program, which is entering its 33rd year at UT, is open to all majors on campus and does not require a foreign language. It offers one-semester (Spring 2022) of intensive study of the causes, course, and impact of World War Two, followed by a nearly month-long faculty-led trip to the most important World War Two sites and museums in London, Normandy, Paris, Berlin, Cracow, and Warsaw. The European segment of the program will be contingent on the state of the pandemic next May.
Students who meet the program requirements and are looking for an extraordinary educational opportunity are invited to apply. I encourage you to come to the Information Session on September 15, when you will be able to hear from former Normandy Scholars and raise any questions you might have about the program.
Information Session on the Normandy Scholar Program: Wednesday, September 15 at 5:00 in GAR 0.102 (a large lecture hall where attendees will be able to be socially distant). You can also attend the meeting online at: https://utexas.zoom.us/j/96933438940
Please go to the NSP web site: http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/history/normandy-scholars/overview.php (listed on the left-hand side of the History Department home page) for information about the program. There you can also read testimonials from past students.
For any questions, please contact the Director of the Normandy Scholar Program, Dr. Charters Wynn at wynn@utexas.edu.
NSP Application Deadline: Monday, October 4. The application is available at http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/history/normandy-scholars/application.php
Sincerely,
Charters Wynn
