Eric Williams Memorial Lecture: Conversations About Culture, Activism, & Scholarship in the Caribbean and African Diaspora

This pre-recorded lecture will be available on the Warfield Center website on April 16th at 12pm (CT)

The Eric Williams Memorial Lecture makes its digital launch at The University of Texas at Austin (formerly at Florida International University), with a pre-recorded conversation between Drs. Carole Boyce Davies, the co-founder of the Eric Williams Memorial Lecture and the Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters in the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Africana Studies and English at Cornell University; Warfield Center Director Jennifer Wilks.

Founded in 1999, the series honors the late Eric Williams (1911-1981), scholar, statesman, and Head of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago from 1956 until his death in 1981, by hosting conversations about global activism and culture.

The interviews will be accompanied by a digital exhibition, Celebrating Eric Williams, co-coordinated between the Eric Williams Memorial Collection and UT’s Black Diaspora Archive and mounted by Black Diaspora Archivist Rachel Winston.

Exhibition materials will be available in English and Spanish.
