Student Research positions for Digital Literacy with IC2 Institute

The IC2 Institute, a think tank at UT Austin, has just been asked to conduct a research project for the state of Texas regarding digital literacy and libraries. This applied research project involves digital literacy services being provided by Texas’ public libraries (500+) and branch libraries (300+)—what services are being provided now, what services could be enhanced, what the costs of those new services may be, and what constraints exist in limiting an expansion of new services.

We are looking to hire a team of student researchers to work on the following job tasks:

Participate in online training in social science research methodology and primary-source research techniques with an emphasis on interview data.
Conduct and document interviews with individual public library directors in Texas and participate in focus groups with groups of library directors, including some in small communities or disadvantaged metro neighborhoods Texas.
Prepare short case studies of outstanding digital literacy services being offered in Texas.

Hourly Wage:
$14-$17/hour

Approximate Hours per Week:
10 to 15 hours per week, (spring 2022 term and possible summer 2022 appointment if desired)

It is posted on UT Austin's Handshake under job #5821525
