Minority Women Pursuing Law

Image Description: A rectangular graphic with a solid beige background and two bicolored circles in the corners. In the middle lies big text that reads "Minority Women Pursuing Law," and in the bottom right corner is smaller text that reads "The University of Texas at Austin, Est. 2003."

Minority Women Pursuing Law (MWPL) is an organization aimed at uniting and motivating all undergraduate students, although our key focus remains on minority women who are interested in law, justice, and obtaining a law degree.

We desire to help students with upcoming admissions processes and the kinds of experiences to expect during and after law school. The creation of long-lasting networks of minority women like these will only benefit everybody at each step of their law journey.

We offer:
  • Biweekly engagements with seasoned law speakers from different backgrounds and different types of law.
  • LSAT workshops and practice exams with our partners that offer discounts to MWPL members.
  • Law school tours, with past tours ranging from local favorites, such as Texas Law, to top-ranked T14 schools, such as the University of Michigan School of Law.
  • Socials, such as our seasonal banquets.
  • Volunteering events hosted with partners off and on campus.
  • Group messaging through our organized Slack channels – feel free to join!
  • Personal mentorship and long-lasting networks composed of other minority women pursuing law.
We are also very proud to announce that we are now an official affiliate of the Gender and Sexuality Center here at UT! We look forward to working together toward our shared goal of promoting students of any and all gender and sexual identities!

Through our organization, we hope to give as much law foundation as possible to our hopeful members. There are no requirements to join! You do not need to be well-versed with law technicalities and you do not have to be studying a law-related field to be a member! We aim for our events to be as in-person as possible, but we will work with all COVID-19 guidelines that the university and our collaborators set.

Have questions for us? Want to meet our officers? Need to see what the hype is all about?

Register here to join us at our virtual information sessions! Select a date or two that is most convenient for you, and we’ll be there to introduce you to our organization!
