Yoruba is a rich language with a deep cultural history that is spoken predominantly in Nigeria, the most populated African country, and among the Nigerian diaspora. As Nigerians continue to emigrate around the globe, the utility of Yoruba as an academic pursuit continues to grow. It can be a great way for students to expand their experiences and learn a language that is a bit off the standard university beaten path.

Intermediate proficiency in Yoruba can be completed in two semesters of 12hrs: YOR 601C and YOR 610C. YOR 611C is offered every spring semester. Students need not know any aspect of Yoruba before taking YOR 601C.
