IRG Students: Please review the following credit-by-exam updates. Some credit will no longer be available to claim after the spring semester, so read the following information carefully. You can claim credit by visiting the Student Testing Services (STS) website. If you're not sure which credit to claim or test to take, please speak to an IRG advisor.
- The absolute last day to petition for credit to have a course written under Spring 2021is Sunday, May 16th. Anything petitioned after Sunday, May 16th at midnight will be written to Summer 2021.
- The following credit policies will go into effect on May 1st:
- Credit for SPN 314 will no longer be awarded for the UT Spanish Exam with Writing Exercise. IRG students doing Spanish as their foreign language will still need SPN 314 course to advance to upper division language courses. If you need to claim credit for SPN 314 using your UT Spanish Exam score, you must do so before 5/1. This does not affect the AP or IB Spanish exams, only the UT Spanish Exam.
- Summer testing will look much like last year since summer orientation will be remote. Student Testing Services will continue administering tests on campus at limited capacity with cleaning and safety protocols in place. STS will continue administering the Texas Government Only exam in Canvas for the time being. We highly recommend eligible IRG students take the Texas Test ASAP as it is an important prerequisite for some track courses. A number of exams will be administered in person in late May and very early June, prior to the beginning of Summer, for some sciences, additional foreign languages, and math.
- If you are a graduating senior for Spring 2021 that still needs to take the UT Spanish Exam or Texas Government Only test, please contact Student Testing Services immediately. STS does not test during final exams. Please email STS at ctl-testing@utlists.utexas.edu. Summer graduates should look for STS June dates to be posted on May 23rd. Dates tend to fill quickly regardless of the number of dates or seats we open.
