Allies in Action 2021: Uplifting Asian Women and/or LGBTQIA+ Communities

Allies in Action is hosting it’s spring event to uplift and embolden the work of Asian women and/or LGBTQIA+ folks, and the work being done through the Lotus Project, at the University of Texas at Austin and beyond by honoring students’ lived experiences. A student panel followed by small discussion groups to create tangible steps on how we can reflect on our own actions and respective spaces, while allowing us to collaborate on ideas to become better allies and accomplices to Asian women and/or LGBTQIA+ folks.

The Lotus Project was created to provide an online platform that aims to develop connection, awareness, healing, and provide a community for individuals who identify as Asian, queer, trans, and/or woman. Additionally, the projects aim to connect individuals, who identify as part of the Asian diaspora, with resources and tools to build communities, coalition, and solidarity with the Black, LatinX/Hispanic, Indigenous/Native Americans, LGBTQIA+, disability, undocumented, woman, and other marginalized communities.
