The first 10 UT Austin students who apply to study abroad in CIEE Open Campus program in London/Copenhagen/Rome (links to the programs) receive significant grants outlined below.
The competition for these grant opens nation-wide on March 25, but UT Austin students are given a lead, due to our long standing partnership with CIEE. 10 grants will go to students who apply by March 24 through this link: https://www.ciee.org/go-abroad/college-study-abroad/global-cities-scholarship
Open Campus Block programs in Rome, London, Copenhagen are highly customizable programs that allow students to study 1-2 courses in 6 week blocks in 1 location and then change locations. A student has to complete at minimum 4 courses (12 credits) in 2 blocks, so they can choose to start August 16 (first block) or September 27 (2nd block) to complete studies by December 18. Block 1 dates 8/16-9/25; Block 2 dates 9/27-11/6; Block 3 dates are 11/8-12/18. CIEE believes that programs in these locations will run, but should any mobility be impacted, their Program Assurance Advantage applies. The courses students can study in these locations are in this course list and syllabi can be retrieved on the program page links above—a consult with academic advisors re: the program academic fit is recommended—these would be transfer credits.
The available grants/scholarships are:
- $6,500 for 2 blocks - the comprehensive program fee is $11,900. Students’ cost of study abroad for fall would be $5,400 for 2x6 week study of 12 credits (4 courses) in 1 or 2 cities – cost covers tuition, housing, and extra programming not transfer between the cities.
- $9,750 for 3 blocs - the comprehensive program fee is $17,850. Students’ cost of study abroad for fall would be $8,100 for 3x6 week study of 15-18 credits (5-6 courses) in 1-3 cities – cost covers tuition, housing, and all extra programming in 1 to 3 of the listed cities
- Students can also apply for up to $1,000 of Fly Free voucher (must register by April 1)
Once accepted into the program by CIEE, Texas Global Education Abroad would require that students follow the regular application steps for affiliated programs (open CIEE application with us or ask us to switch your current application into this program if you already have an application open).
