Applications for Community Engagement Collective Student Leaders Now Open

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) is excited to announce the Community Engagement Collective, a new, innovative approach to student programming. Their programs have historically functioned as more separate organizations united by CCE mission and values. The COVID-19 pandemic gave a different perspective on social justice, community service, and active citizenship. They aimed to form a more collaborative and unified organization which allows you, as students, the opportunities to grow as leaders through hands-on and dynamic leadership experiences. There’s more focus on social justice, more networking, more ability to work directly in local neighborhoods, and more focus on the social part of being in an organization.

The UT Community Engagement Collective (CEC) is a network of students passionate about community engagement and social justice. The CEC’s vision is that all UT students will be active citizens, and the collective is a place where anyone can find a place to get involved. The student collective goal is to create community by leveraging university resources to meet community priorities. The structure of the collective deliberately is created to limit “hierarchy” and follows a traditional model of community organizing.

No matter your student leadership experience, your year, major, or previous participation in volunteer opportunities, there is a place for you on one of our many committees! The committees include positions in educational training, outreach, membership, development, community relations, special events, days of service, and more! Within each of their9 committees there are various chair positions for you to discover and learn more.

CCE welcomes all students who are interested and passionate about community service, student leadership, and building intentional connections with our neighboring Austin communities.

For more information, please visit the CCE website where you can find a video that better explains each committee and its roles. We hope to welcome you to the Community Engagement Collective, soon!
