Free 1/1 Tutoring from Sanger Learning Center

The Peer Academic Coaching (PAC) program at the Sanger Learning Center (SLC) still has space available this semester, and all sessions will be offered virtually. Any interested UT undergraduate can ask to have a coach meet with them once a week for an hour to work on how to plan and study effectively for the courses in which they are currently enrolled. Common topics include test preparation and test- taking strategies, adjusting to online courses, managing a heavy reading load, concentration, study tips for new students, motivation and procrastination, note-taking techniques, and managing time effectively to avoid crises. As availability permits, coaches will also offer single appointments on any of the above topics.

Coaches are trained and supervised by professional educators, and the cost is covered by the SLC. Requests for a coach may be submitted electronically https://ugs.utexas.edu/slc/support/pac. Last fall, participants rated the value of the experience, on average, 4.9 on a five-point scale and shared comments such as the following:

  • "I’m surprised by how much my grades (and myself as a whole) improved from these sessions."
  • “PAC really reduced my stress levels . . . . it kept me very organized and on top of my schoolwork.”
  • “Such a low time commitment but a large payoff!”
Students who prefer to meet with a member of our professional staff rather than a peer can book a learning specialist appointment through the Sanger website at https://ugs.utexas.edu/slc. Be sure to check out our tutoring, public speaking consultations, and math exam reviews there as well!
