Fall 2020 / REE 345 - Global Perspective on Health Inequality (Web-based)
This class will focus on the anthropology of health, illness, & inequality. Readings & assignments will draw from numerous interdisciplinary sources about the meanings of health & illness, inequality, institutional discrimination & racism, & health disparities. Students will learn about these subjects from a global perspective, with a primary focus on Eastern Europe & the former Soviet Union as well as the United States. They will explore the framing of epidemics, pandemics, health inequities, & outbreaks. Ultimately students will learn how to apply a critical lens to analyze the root causes of structural health inequality. Unique number: 42500
