Featured Student Organization: Generation United Nations (GenUN)

GenUN, a student organization, will have info sessions Tuesday, September 1 at 6pm, Thursday, September 3 at 5pm, and Wednesday, September 9 at 10am. The org’s goal is to build a community of open-minded citizens seeking to discuss, propose solutions for, and raise awareness about global issues. GenUN’s mission is to advance the UN’s SDGs on a collegiate level, develop an understanding of a diversity of cultures, and serve the UT and Austin community.

This is the club for everyone who wants to make a difference but doesn’t know where to start. Or maybe you do know but need help. Whether you want to do breakthrough research, start a foundation, or otherwise enact social change, it all starts with expanding your perspective through a global mind and involvement with organizations like GenUN that facilitate student-run impact projects.

You can partake in “Hot Talks” regarding important issues like cultural identity in a nation that is a melting pot or the Syrian refugee crisis. These happen once a month and you can help do research for one, lead it, or attend it to listen or join the discussion. The org is committed to remaining an active community virtually this semester.
